I've been backing up my files using Vista back up system, set up my setting for weekly backups and forget it. Had this external hardrive for abouth 2 weeks and I must say it is a very good product. Installation was very easy, basically a "plug and play" type of deal. The only thing I'm not so happy about is the misleading storage amount. Packaging says 750GB storage space, but my unit show 698GB total space, feel a bit cheated.
I've been using it for the past 2 months and no issues. works quietly and is on for the past 2 months.
I've only had it for a short amount of time so a review can't be done yet, I mean so far so good.
It was accidentally tipped on its side and now it does not work. Getting screwed by lousy testing and quality control. The hard drive had been sitting up as it's "stylishly designed" to do. I thought that Western Digital was a reliable solid product, but I was wrong. Design it so that it has a low profile that won't be prone to tipping over when directly looking at it. Loosing family photos, thousands of songs, and irreplaceable data.
$150 paper weight.
All of my precious stored data is now lost.
Thanks Western Digital.
I bought this thing 2 months ago.
Priceless.
Thanks for allowing me to foolishly think that this was a good product.
Let me remind you that I did not throw or drop the hard drive, all it did was get tipped on its side and now years of data, photos, music, etc no longer exists.
Take note Western Digital.Stop trying to turn a simple reliable product into a styish time bomb.
It's my recommendation that you change the name from `My Book' to `Hot Garbage'.WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK.
So far so good.like all hard drives there are the ones that die right away.they are mechanical and quit like all things like that do - this one set up easy even though there were almost no instructions.works fine so far.
